Awareness Analytics - Privacy Policy

Privacy

As a general rule, nobody needs to know anything about you unless (1) you want them to, (2) you explicitly allow it, and when (3) that disclosure is reasonably required to engage in an activity that’s important to you.  For example, if you want to buy a pizza and have it delivered to you, you’ll have to at minimum provide verifiable identification & payment information as well as your current location.  The purpose of this policy, therefore, is to advise you of what types of information we gather about you, under what circumstances we will allow its disclosure, and how you can update it.

Information Collection

This website gathers broad information about usage - including the number of unique visitors, the frequency with which they visit, and the services that are preferred or engaged.  The collected data is viewed on an aggregate basis and not on an individual level.  This information is gathered for the primary purpose of learning how many people visit this site, which pages and service offerings are the most important to those visitors, and what websites are referring visitors to this site.  This information helps us to make website adjustments which make the users’ experience more enjoyable.

We do compile lists for communications and marketing purposes related solely with your participation in our service offerings.  Any information you provide which is retained by us will NOT be shared to an unaffiliated third party for any reason outside of the purpose for which is was provided or to comply with a lawful warrant or other compulsory legal action.

This website and the services offered herein are intended for general audiences.  We do not knowingly or intentionally collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 years.  We are committed to complying fully with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and we encourage all parents and legal guardians to discuss privacy with their children.

If you opt to sign up for a training class, course offering, or other purchase through this site, we will request certain required and optional personal information before accepting your request.  This information may include your name, date of birth, email address, mailing address, telephone number, etc.  Particular third-party services such as payment processing services, may request additional information such as your billing address, credit card number, and expiration date in order to process a class registration or product purchase.  The primary purpose for asking this information is to facilitate the transaction and no part of your financial information is processed or retained by us.  However, verification of your identity and eligibility for participation in a given activity is also sometimes required.  For example, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) specify that only current, lawful ‘US Persons’ - both US citizens and lawful permanent Resident Aliens in possession of a current I-551 (eg. Green Card) are allowed to participate in NRA firearms training courses.  While we might think it is asinine to restrict attendance to firearm safety courses from any person interested in taking them, that’s the law our legislators have passed and which must be complied with.

One final, admittedly tin-foil hat statement… we have no way of knowing if the hosting company we use or some state or federal agency is nefariously conducting surveillance in the background that we are unaware of and have no reason to know.  In today’s environment, you have to presume somebody is watching.  Caveat emptor.

Control of Personal Information

Opt-out - We may from time to time use your information to send you notices in the mail or by email about special offers, discounts, or other general information relevant to your involvement with us such as reminder emails about an upcoming class you’ve signed up for.  If you do not wish to receive these contacts, you can: (1) opt out of email lists immediately by following the instructions at the bottom of each email or write, email, or call us using the information available in our ‘Contact Info’ section found in the footer of our website.

Cookies

Awareness Analytics uses ‘cookies’ to collect information about how the site is used.  Cookies aren’t something you eat.  Rather, they’re small strings of text stored on your computer’s hard drive by a web server that allows the web server to track your activities while visiting our website.  These ‘cookies’ identify your computer during that visit and allows the website to, for example, track the items you place in a shopping cart and facilitate its purchase.

This website also uses cookies in conjunction with third parties (such as Facebook and Google) to provide measurement on marketing campaigns and to send targeted advertisements to internet users.  We do not use any personally identifiable information when targeting users for advertisements and the use of these ‘cookies’ allows personally identifiable information to remain undisclosed.

If you would like to opt-out of cookie collection, you can disable and / or block third-party cookies in the settings section of your internet browser.  Please note that if you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to access certain interactive features and services offered on this website.
